Burnout That Does Not Resolve With Rest Is Usually Telling You Something Else Is Going On.
D&Y provides psychiatric evaluation for working professionals in California whose burnout, chronic work stress, or emotional depletion may be driven by an underlying clinical condition — and an honest answer about whether psychiatric care is the right intervention.
Burnout and clinical depression, anxiety, and ADHD share significant symptom overlap — and one frequently drives or compounds the other. D&Y evaluates the full picture before making any treatment recommendation, including the honest assessment of what psychiatric care can and cannot address in your specific situation.

Burnout Is a Real Experience. It Is Also Frequently the Visible Layer Over a Clinical Condition That Has Not Been Evaluated.
Burnout — as the World Health Organization defines it — is an occupational phenomenon resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed. Its three defining features are exhaustion, increasing mental distance from work, and reduced professional efficacy. It is real, it is common in high-demand professions, and it is not a psychiatric diagnosis.
Here is the clinical complication: most adults presenting with burnout at a psychiatric practice have something else happening alongside it, or underneath it. Undiagnosed ADHD creates the cognitive friction and performance inefficiency that generates burnout faster and more severely than it would occur in a neurotypical professional. Untreated anxiety runs the productivity engine on cortisol and deadline pressure until the fuel runs out. Depression depletes motivation and engagement in ways that look identical to late-stage burnout from the outside. Burnout and these conditions are not mutually exclusive — and treating one without evaluating for the other produces partial improvement at best.
The professionals who arrive at D&Y describing burnout are often describing a combination: the occupational stress is real, the depletion is real, and underneath it is a clinical condition that has been amplifying the cost of their work demands for years. Once that underlying condition is identified and addressed, the burnout becomes manageable in a way it was not when they were trying to manage it alone.
D&Y approaches every burnout evaluation with one question driving the clinical process: what is actually going on here? Sometimes the answer is primarily occupational and the intervention is outside of psychiatry — and we will say so. More often, there is a clinical component that has been missed — and identifying it changes what the path forward looks like.
"Burnout that does not resolve with time off, boundary-setting, or reduced workload is usually signaling that something clinical is contributing. That is worth evaluating — honestly, and before any prescription is considered."— Denis Grigorov, PMHNP-BC
Three Conditions That Overlap With Burnout — and Why Distinguishing Them Changes the Treatment.
Depression
ADHD
Many adults present with burnout that is being driven by undiagnosed ADHD — the cognitive friction of managing ADHD without support creates burnout even at normal workloads. D&Y evaluates for this specifically in every burnout assessment.
D&Y Treats Burnout in the Professionals Who Are Most Exposed to It.
Healthcare Workers
Physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals whose occupational exposure to suffering, administrative burden, and systemic dysfunction creates burnout at elevated rates — often compounded by untreated anxiety or depression that the professional context makes harder to acknowledge.
Educators
Teachers and administrators whose emotional labor, increasing demands, and limited resources generate a specific burnout pattern that is frequently accompanied by depression and anxiety that go unaddressed. Yesenia's world — and one Denis understands well.
Corporate & Business Professionals
Executives, managers, and knowledge workers whose performance standards, always-on culture, and identity investment in their work creates high-severity burnout that is often mismanaged as a time management or work-life balance problem.
Legal & Financial Professionals
Attorneys, accountants, and financial professionals whose high-stakes responsibility, perfectionism requirements, and long-term exposure to adversarial or high-pressure environments create a specific burnout profile often accompanied by anxiety and ADHD that were never evaluated.
An Honest Evaluation That Tells You What Is Psychiatric and What Is Not.
Our burnout evaluation is a structured clinical interview that assesses the specific occupational context, the symptom pattern and timeline, the functional impact beyond work, and the full diagnostic picture — specifically including ADHD, depression, anxiety, and mood spectrum conditions that frequently drive or amplify burnout. He does not assume that burnout is the whole story, and he does not assume it is primarily a psychiatric problem until the evidence supports that conclusion.
If the evaluation supports a clinical diagnosis alongside or underneath the burnout, Your provider will explain the reasoning, recommend an appropriate treatment plan, and outline what the psychiatric component of care can realistically address. If the evaluation suggests the presentation is primarily occupational without a significant clinical component, he will say that clearly and help identify appropriate non-psychiatric resources.
The goal is not to medicalize a normal response to an abnormal amount of occupational stress. The goal is to identify what is clinical — and therefore treatable — and what requires structural or behavioral change that psychiatry cannot produce.
Full Burnout Evaluation
60–90 minutes. Occupational context assessed in full. Complete diagnostic differential — ADHD, depression, anxiety, and mood spectrum conditions evaluated specifically alongside the burnout presentation.
Honest Diagnosis + Recommendation
Clear finding delivered: is this primarily clinical, primarily occupational, or both? Treatment plan or appropriate referral based on what the evidence supports — not on what is easiest to prescribe.
Follow-Up If Indicated
If a clinical condition is identified, structured follow-up begins with medication management or combination therapy as appropriate. If not, we help identify resources outside of psychiatry that fit your situation.
